📖 Journey Overview

The Classic Inca Trail is unanimously recognized as one of the world’s greatest trekking adventures. Following ancient stone highways paved five centuries ago, hike through diverse ecological zones ranging from arid cactus valleys to mystical cloud forests draped in rare orchids and bromeliads.

Conquer the legendary Dead Woman’s Pass (Warmiwañusqa at 4,215m), explore majestic cliffside ruins accessible only on foot (Runkurakay, Sayacmarca, Phuyupatamarca, Wiñay Wayna), and experience the breathtaking arrival at the Sun Gate (Inti Punku) as Machu Picchu reveals itself below.

🗓️ Detailed Daily Itinerary

Day 1: Cusco – Km 82 (Piscacucho) – Patallacta – Wayllabamba (12 km)

Early departure from Cusco to Km 82 trailhead. Meet our dedicated team of Quechua porters and camp chef. Begin trekking along the Urubamba River with views of the Inka settlement of Patallacta. Gentle ascent to our first campsite at Wayllabamba (3,000m).

Day 2: Wayllabamba – Dead Woman’s Pass (4,215m) – Pacaymayo (11 km)

The most challenging day. Steady climb through native Polylepis forests to Warmiwañusqa Pass (4,215m / 13,828ft), the highest point of the trek with panoramic views. Descend stone steps to camp at Pacaymayo Valley (3,600m).

Day 3: Pacaymayo – Runkurakay – Sayacmarca – Phuyupatamarca – Wiñay Wayna (16 km)

The most scenic and archaeologically rich day. Cross the second pass (3,950m), exploring the semi-circular ruins of Runkurakay, cliffhanging Sayacmarca, and the misty "City above the Clouds" at Phuyupatamarca. Descend to the spectacular terraced sanctuary of Wiñay Wayna (2,650m).
