Journey into the heart of the Peruvian Amazon at the Tambopata National Reserve, home to one of the greatest concentrations of biodiversity on Earth. Navigate the winding Madre de Dios River to the pristine oxbow waters of Lake Sandoval, protected within primary rainforest.

Paddle in silent canoes alongside families of endangered Giant River Otters and prehistoric Hoatzin birds, observe nocturnal caimans on river safaris, climb a 45-meter canopy tower above ancient Brazil nut trees, and discover the nocturnal magic of the rainforest.

🗓️ Detailed Daily Itinerary

Day 1: Arrival in Puerto Maldonado – Madre de Dios River – Lake Sandoval – Night Safari

Reception at Puerto Maldonado airport and transfer to river port. Motorboat navigation down the Madre de Dios River followed by a 3km primary forest hike to Lake Sandoval. Paddle canoe across the lake to your eco-lodge. Night walk to observe tarantulas, tree frogs, and nocturnal wildlife.

Day 2: La Cachuela Macaw Clay Lick – Monkey Island – Nocturnal Caiman Safari

Dawn departure to La Cachuela clay lick to witness dozens of colorful parrots and macaws feeding on mineral-rich clay. Visit Monkey Island to observe capuchin and squirrel monkeys. Night boat safari along the riverbanks spotting Black Caimans and capybaras.

Day 3: Tapir Trail – Palm Swamps – 45m Canopy Walkway System

Morning hike along the Tapir Trail through towering aguajal palm swamps. Afternoon ascent to the 45-meter high Canopy Walkway suspended in the rainforest treetops, providing breathtaking views of toucans and monkey troops in the forest canopy.

Day 4: Sunrise Amazon Farewell – Airport Transfer

Breakfast at the lodge and scenic return boat navigation to Puerto Maldonado port with private transfer to the airport for your flight to Cusco or Lima.
